i think i always have been even before it had a name.
i have never quite fit in, or at least that is the way i have always felt to some extent. i have tried to make my impact on the world as positive as i can. this is something to which i still aspire. there is always room for improvement.
i have not mentioned this (not new) group of mine before and have just not been forthcoming with the information. i find it very personal, and it is difficult to explain why i find such inspiration and encouragement from two brothers i have never and probably never will meet. it is almost embarrassing to explain why i wrote notes and stuck them in john green’s books at the bookstore or why i spent several hours commenting on videos promoting charities. i just did. because i wanted to. because it felt good, and i felt good doing it. it feels good to be apart of something positive. where other people want the same things i do.
it is hard to explain. and i’m sure some think that it is silly or crazy or a waste of time.
we all may be dreamers. and it may be that nothing we set out to do gets completed the way we intended. but i’d rather be a dreamer than a person who chooses not to dream big because they see themselves failing in the end. that is not the way i choose to live.

i get my first paycheck today!!!!!!!!!
everyone should get excited! it’ll be my first school psych paycheck. as i was thinking about that yesterday and just now, it is nice and kind of weird/surreal to get paid for what i do. not weird because i don’t think i *should* get paid, but just weird cause i never have before. it’s the start of something lovely.

now if i could only find a bank to deposit this check in….

well, it looks like type o is playing at bogart’s in october! i would really like to go, but i’m not sure if i’ll be able to due to work. i could take a personal day…or sick day. we will see. it’s a long drive though. but there is still some time to decide all that including if we will even go! lol

today was a better day at work, but i was also not in the office much…take that for what you will.

we got the gas turned on today!!!
so now we can cook on the stove (james is doing that right now), and we can take hot showers. oh the creature comforts of modern life. how i miss thee.
it’s really amazing how much you take those little things for granted until they’re no longer there. the next big thing to do is get a washer and dryer…but am not sure when/how that will happen. for the time being we’re just taking our laundry to andi’s on the weekend and doing it before/during/after the game on saturdays. so far so good!

they just delivered it and set it up. it almost didnt fit! they had to take off the front door to baaaarely get it to squeeze in. it will be interesting getting it out of here…
i am more than excited!

i just need to clean the kitchen and it will be worthy of the new fridgeness….mostly

well yesterday i went to a local conference about suicide. some parts were useful, and i almost cried during the panel discussion!

work has been going as well as can be expected. nothing new to report really.

the fridge should be here TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you have no idea how excited that makes me.

last week we bought some magic cards and built decks. it was fun. i lose most of the time, but typically it’s alot of fun anyway. side note: four player games are interesting.

friday i’ll be heading up to richmond for the weekend. should be fun!

money came in today! so that means i’m not completely poor and can now get the gas turned on so we can cook on the stove and have hot showers. creature comforts really are nice when you think about it…or when you don’t have them anymore.

oh! and we bought a fridge tonight. it should be here some time mid or late next week. again with the creature comforts you don’t really miss until they’re gone…

things i have learned about myself recently

i get a headache when i don’t eat until way after my lunch time

i should trust my instinct when it comes to the vague driving directions people give me

i don’t have many dots in “test young children”

i really do need a testing goodie bag that stays in the car with me

counting calories is a good thing

i can get to harlan county ky from jonesville va without even trying

4 cats really isn’t all that many in the grand scheme of things

i can survive taking cold showers for a few weeks when i have to

i can also live without a stove and refrigerator (and washer and dryer)

driving is ok, but i wouldn’t want to do it for a living

giving tests is much more enjoyable than writing them up (not new but i rediscovered it)

i don’t like developmental tests

ahh i love the weekends, and this week’s is almost here! after supervision (which i’m excited about for once!) i will be free! lots of gym in my future and i would like to go hiking. i need to scout out the places around here to hike as i hear that there are quite a few!

i’ll be in richmond until sunday because andi wants to have a cookout. i’m sure it will be full of good food and good times as usual.

i want video games, crafts, and hiking!!

supervision

as an intern i’m obviously not free to do my job all by my onesy so i’m reliant on others to guide me as i try to do my job without screwing anything up.

in virginia where i work, interns don’t have licenses (not even provisional) so us interns are just piggybacking on our supervisors license. so far i haven’t screwed anything up yet, and my first two reports got the stamp of approval! i also got a pat on the back for my well integrated background information sections.

so far i am really liking my job, and they’re really close to getting an educational diagnostician which will make me so very happy! (she’s really nice btw)

tomorrow i work for 3 hours then head home and then head to richmond for university supervision. first one of the year! i can’t wait to see everyone and see how their placements are going!!!
